The world is flat

Stremmel Gallery, 2011.

“The World Is Flat” refers to the artist’s large mural size painting made of discarded cardboards depicting a map of the world; Along with it’s primitive execution the use of cardboard boxes as a canvas, echo’s the casual throw away culture we live in. Measuring 12′ high x 25′ wide, this oversized installation forces the viewer to confront personal waste management in a playful and materially appropriate way. The relevance of this work to our eco-challenged times is without measure. The artist credits Rauschenberg’s cardboard pieces as an inspiration for this installation.
